The Truth Shall Set You Free…It might piss you off first, but it will set you free.

Saying Goodbye to 2010 … Happy New Year?

Posted by politicalmonkey2010 on December 30, 2010

2010 was certainly a year full of trials and tribulations, along with some hard fought victories…leaves one to wonder what 2011 will bring…

A few things occur to me, in particular since I have been conducting a twitter experiment the past few days …we are getting meaner, more vulgar and have a serious desire to promote disinformation.  I ran across this website… www.viletweets.com the owner of the site has simply picked up on some as the name implies “vile” tweets.  Here you will find the best of “conservative, patriotic Christian Americans” – it is disheartening to see what these folks who wrap themselves in the flag and proclaim their undying love  of country, God centered values, twist and pervert everything that is good and right about the USA.

Social media has exploded with Twitter, Facebook and so many other instant ways to engage with one and another, and with anything good there will always be those people who will ruin it and distort it.  Perhaps these folks were always out there, but now they have a way to bond, they become one and other’s  Twitter Groupies, blindly supporting each other, ignoring facts.  They embody animal pack behavior…they look for the weak and stalk them, waiting to take them down.    This animal behavior is not limited to the adversaries,   let one of the herd pull away from the core thinking and the group turns and cannibalizes its own.   Trying to engage in a civil discourse is virtually impossible.  All that being said, I can live with that, let’s be honest, Twitter is not real life, and if it is becoming your real life, you have bigger problems than you realize.  The thing that bothers me the most is the absolute refusal to look at the facts  if the facts don’t agree with your universe.  I cannot understand in this day and age of information overload the refusal to go out, seek a credible source and verify the information you are getting.  Whether it is from social media or mainstream media, evidently we are going to have to seek out the truth on our own.  Hitler said it best….“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it”.  The conservative right has certainly embraced this motto.

While I am not a big believer in New Year’s Resolutions, at this point my core values have been violated and so I start early on this resolution…

I am tired of people twisting and perverting my religion, calling themselves Christians and then spouting out the most vile, evil ideas known to man.  The irony of tweeting out biblical passages and then following up that tweet with some bigoted ideology. Not going to take it any more.   I am taking back my Christian religion.

I am tired of people lying and saying it as if it is gospel truth, spinning, sound bites, whatever it takes to discredit Pres. Obama.  There are things that Pres. Obama has done that I do not agree with, the man is not the messiah, but he is a hell of alot better than the alternatives.  What has become evident, is that we do not have the language to deal with the racial issues that still exist in our country.  Just because we have elected a black President doesn’t mean we are all holding hands and singing Kumbaya.  I directly attribute the vile behavior of people and the unwarranted attacks on Pres. Obama and his family as race based.  All of a sudden we have this “conservative movement” wanting to “take back our country”…take it back from whom?  The black man in the white house?  Or the ever popular emphasis of Barrack HUSSEIN (that middle name in capitals) Obama.  If you want to be a racist, be a racist, have the balls to own it, say it, don’t hide behind religion, “conservative values”, or political parties.

So yes, even the munky is becoming more evil, but I would like to think of it as a crusade for the truth.

Munky Motto:  I didn’t land on this planet to win a popularity contest, and I won’t prostitute  out my values for the sake of making “friends”.

In closing…my wishes for you in 2011…

May your joys be as bright as the morning,

And your sorrows merely be shadows that fade,

In the sunlight of love.

May you have enough

happiness to keep you sweet.

Enough trials to keep you strong.

Enough sorrows to keep you human.

Enough hope to keep you happy.

Enough failure to keep you humble.

Enough success to keep you eager.

Enough friends to give you comfort.

Enough faith and courage in yourself to banish sadness.

Enough wealth to meet your needs.

And one thing more: enough

determination to make each day a more wonderful day

than the day before.
