Pat Boone – Can You Trust Him? or Just Another Right Wing Nut Job

Posted by politicalmonkey2010 on December 13, 2010

This made a monkey spew coffee on her screen this morning..Pat Boone is launching a line of meats..yes you read it right..meats, as in “All American Meats”.  I remember a wholesome, all American, Pat Boone from my childhood…watching him sing on variety shows, the man was Doris Day in pants..well folks, I’m here to tell you alot has changed.  It seems that Pat will be giving 5% of his money from the sale of said meats to a couple of organizations..one being Focus on the Family.( A right wing nut job “organization” hiding behind the term Christianity)

This got a monkey to thinking, pondering, who is Pat Boone exactly?  So I hit the web…and the horrors began to unfold..what happened to this all American wholesale man who had credibility?  I will start with his op-ed to the World Net Daily written last year, entitled: President Without a Country.

He immediately starts out with four quotes taken out of context or completely false…

The first being….”We’re no longer a Christian nation.” – President Barack Obama, June 2007 – Yes, Pres. Obama did say this, he also said we not just a Christian nation, but also a Jewish nation, a Buddhist nation, a Muslim nation, and a nation of unbelievers.  Mr. Boone, I don’t know what parallel universe you are living in, but as this nation has evolved geographically, it has also evolved spiritually to include all kinds of faiths and religions, and this great nation also affords people the right not to believe.  Here is the YouTube link http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=tmC3IevZiik

The second quote says “America has been arrogant.” – President Barack Obama.  Did Pres. Obama say this?  Yes, he did.  In context this is what he said: America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive” towards its allies.  Anybody remember the lack of support for the invasion of Iraq?  It is also important to realize this statement in the context of the ENTIRE speech and the audience.  He was in Germany speaking to the youth, in that same speech he went on to say that blaming America and using its actions as an excuse to avoid tackling the global Islamist threat was unacceptable.  “But in Europe, there is an anti-Americanism that is at once casual, but can also be insidious. Instead of recognising the good that America so often does in the world, there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much of what is bad.”   Pres. Obama hit the nail on the head Mr. Boone.  Read the ENTIRE speech here http://www.scribd.com/doc/13936886/President-Obamas-Town-Hall-Meeting-in-France-April-3-2009-TranscriptVideo-Link

“After 9/11, America didn’t always live up to her ideals.” – President Barack Obama  Nobody seems to know where this quote came from, perhaps a paraphrase of his speech in Cairo?  If so this is what Pres. Obama said:

And finally, just as America can never tolerate violence by extremists, we must never alter our principles. 9/11 was an enormous trauma to our country. The fear and anger that it provoked was understandable, but in some cases, it led us to act contrary to our ideals. We are taking concrete actions to change course. I have unequivocally prohibited the use of torture by the United States, and I have ordered the prison at Guantanamo Bay closed by early next year.

So America will defend itself respectful of the sovereignty of nations and the rule of law. And we will do so in partnership with Muslim communities which are also threatened. The sooner the extremists are isolated and unwelcome in Muslim communities, the sooner we will all be safer.

“You might say that America is a Muslim nation.”   – President Barack Obama, Egypt 2009.   Again, I do not find any reference that Pres. Obama made this remark, perhaps it is a paraphrase suggesting that just as we have Jews, Buddhist, Hindus etc.. we also have Muslims in America.   There is a part in the speech where he says:
“So let there be no doubt:  Islam is a part of America.  And I believe that America holds within her the truth that regardless of race, religion, or station in life, all of us share common aspirations — to live in peace and security; to get an education and to work with dignity; to love our families, our communities, and our God.  These things we share.  This is the hope of all humanity.”

I was very disappointed in Mr. Boone, I suppose I held some type of belief that this man was a Christian and would not lie, but then I went on to discover even more disappointing things about Mr. Boone…like he is involved with the Tea Party Express…do I need to say more?  It is a shame to watch this American man lose a lifetime of credibility.  Good luck Pat, I know I won’t be buying your meats..your religion, your politics, or ideas for that matter.
