Ramadan is a time for socializing, breaking your fast – Iftar – is an experience. It is amazing to watch this bustling city grind to a halt with the evening call to prayer. If you happen to be stuck in traffic, not to fret, you will find plenty of people on the street offering you at a minimum something to drink and a date to break your fast until you get home.

Mercy tables are to be found throughout the city – everybody is welcome, no questions asked. Dinner is served free of charge.
If you planning on going out for iftar – Khan Khalili the world’s oldest bazaar is a must! Try El Ahd El Gedeed (The New Testament) where you will find a wide variety of local favorites, ranging from chicken to kebabs. If you are feeling adventurous try pigeon or trotters! Trotters (Kawarea) ..as if the hooves of cows, before you say ewwwwwwwwwww! Try it, it’s what for dinner!
