Brand Palin – A Political Corpse?

Evolution of Brand Palin

To anybody who has read my blog it is quite evident that I hold no affection for Sarah Palin, for a variety of reasons.

The “Oracle” has told me that I waste too much time on her, she is a political corpse.  While I would love to think so, as it would restore my faith that more and more people are starting to de-tox from the Palin virus.  This comment was made to me a couple of weeks ago…and I have been chewing on it.  Of course it is hard to find articles on Sarah Palin that do not show her in a poor light, the woman is a lightening rod of negative publicity.  But somebody once said, ain’t no such thing as bad publicity, and Sarah has taken that to heart.

But in recent days it does seem that there are more “meaty” confrontations with Brand Palin, and some pack a pretty good punch….like this one:

Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Republican candidate Kelly Ayotte in the race for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire may have adversely affected the conservative contender’s campaign. An excerpt of analysis from Public Polling Policy said:

The Palin endorsement may well be playing a role in this. 51% of voters in the state say they’re less likely to back a Palin endorsed candidate to only 26% who say that support would make them more inclined to vote for someone. Among moderates that widens to 65% who say a Palin endorsement would turn them off to 14% who it would make more supportive.

The Democratic candidate Paul Hodes’ lead with them has expanded from just 8 points at 47-39 in April to now 21 points at 51-30. Ayotte’s favorability with them has gone from +5 at 32/27 to -19 at 27/46.

And this one…

Sarah goes camping with Kate and the kids… Reality TV is where the action is?

Or this one…

Journolist – a rehashing of how mistreated Sarah was during the Presidential campaign two years ago.  Sarah, it’s over, move one with your life.

Or this one…

Brought to us by the politically vital state of New Hampshire – after Sarah endored Kelly Ayotte (see above)  JOSEPH W. MCQUAID, the publish of the New Hampshire Union Leader had this to say in his paper on 7/21… Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Kelly Ayotte for U.S. Senate should neither surprise nor upset the other campaigns. The race will be won by the candidate who impresses New Hampshire voters, and New Hampshire voters are rarely impressed by what outsiders have to say.

This is to take nothing away from Ayotte. She is a formidable first-time candidate and a legitimate contender for the Republican nomination.

But former Gov. Palin isn’t making these endorsements because, as she claims, she has spent time in New Hampshire and thus knows that the people here are a lot like Alaskans. She spent a few hours here on one day during the 2008 Presidential election. That’s still more time than she spent getting to know Ayotte, but it takes quite a bit longer to know New Hampshire.

A word of advice for supporters of Messrs. Bender, Binnie, Lamontagne and Hodes (sounds like a law firm, doesn’t it?): Don’t fret over what a “Mama Grizzly” from Alaska does. Right now, Granite Staters have more to worry about in keeping bears away from bird feeders.

If all those aren’t bad enough on their own, it seems that Sarah’s Biography for younger readers has been delayed indefinitely. Christian book publisher Zondervan is delaying publication of a Sarah Palin biography for young readers.

Cheryl Lundberg, Zondervan’s director of customer service, said in an e-mail that after “careful review and discussion,” it was deemed that October was not an “optimal time” to publish the book. She said no decision had been made on when the book would be printed.

“Speaking Up: The Sarah Palin Story,” had been slated for release in September and publication in October. It was to be part of a series of biographies aimed at 9- to 12-year-old readers that featured Christians in the news.

Author Kim Washburn said Friday she was surprised by the decision. She said she was told this week the book was on hold “indefinitely.”

I have this sneaking suspicion that Sarah believes in reincarnation, and she will continually attempt to “re-birth” herself.  This is not a woman to make a graceful exit.
